Pushkin (Tsarskoye selo - Tsar's village)
It seems that it's the first time when I have to devote three albums in a row to one suburb, and that's definitely not enough.. Today we'll run around skin-deep - we'll visit main parks with palaces and pavilions (Yekaterininsky, Alexandrovsky), we'll pass by Fedorovsky town.
There is Hermitage cook-house (by architect V.P. Neelov) at the entrance to Yekaterininsky (Catherine's) park
Finnish village Saarimojs was situated in the park's place in the XVIII century. After conquering - called village Sarskoye. Later - Tsarskoye village (in the 1920s it was called Detskoye for some time).
Local park route taxi :)
Grotto
F.B. Rastrelli and A. Rinaldi. 1771
Well-fed duck was swimming back and forth near the grotto. From its sidelong glances at the walking along the bank people, you might guess that it's here not by chance.
Kameron gallery. Stairs leading up was closed unfortunately, and apparently they don't let up there any more :-(
(once they did)
Ch. Kameron. 1780-95
Gallery with a bit of spring.
If I am right, during summer there must be vegetation on this frame.
Sad lion. Perhaps, because everyone who happens to be there touches his muzzle.
Of course, author is the same - F.-B. Rastrelli, palace was built in 1752-56.
There is a typical gesture of the young lover of park sculpture in the left :-)
Part of the park in front of the palace is called "Old garden"
Vestibule of the palace remained in my memory somehow. It's like a station. Very many people, selling some kind of matreshka dolls, signs in dreadful english everywhere. There were two obvious mistakes in ~ five words on one big sign, at that staff of the museum responded to our remarks quite calmly (perhaps, we we're not quite the first ones to tell them about it)
Rastrelli always succeeded in making turrets.
The building is probably Zubovsky outhouse of Yekaterininsky palace (Felten project)
Using the opportunity, I'll remark that different sources of information mention different construction time periods of the palaces and pavilions of Pushkin. Sometimes the difference is plus-minus 20 years.
Group of tourists from China. Actually, there were many more of them. They stood out in their bright clothes against quiet color spectrum of the palaces.
Ramp is seen at the end of the gallery (it's both function and a name at the same
time :)
Continuation of the walk around Yekaterininsky park is further in the next album.
